You can fast as long as you have bodily reserves of fat (and the attendant endogenous water) to do so. But the gurus who’ve written all the books prefer to suggest 11 day soft dry fasts with weeks or a month between each. YMMV.

Personally, I’d rather do a fast as long as I could handle and let my body tell me how long to go and when to continue.
