19F 5’4 147 lbs Starting 7 day Water Fast

Okay so my last meal was at 3am Sunday morning Bc I woke up hungry and I knew that I wasn’t gonna be eating for 7 days. If I could get down to 130-135lbs I would be so happy.

It’s only day one and idk why but I’m struggling. I’ve been watching videos of water fast results to help me make it through. I’m new to fasting so should I put some salt in some water or something ?

Day 1 Measurements: Bust:34 Waist: 26 in Hips: 41 in SW: 147lbs GW: 130lbs

Update: I count get to day 3 because my family decided to go out to dinner and I didn’t want to let them know what I was trying. So I’m gonna start again Friday morning. And hopefully go to next Friday.

Answer

You’re struggling because you’ve been eating food on auto pilot for 19 years, everyone struggles while water fasting. Your brain is confused and panics a little. First few days are usually the toughest because you’re burning off glycogen stores (stored sugar/carbs) once you get into ketosis, which means all sugar is burned off and you start burning your own fat, you will feel better and the appetite will subside and be easier to manage. Drink lots of water and supplement with salt if possible. Its all a mental exercise at this point. Sleeping helps too.

Answer

The “hunger hormone” ghrelin is a large factor in these waves of hunger pangs apparently. I’ve read that ghrelin spikes around times you would normally find people having their meals, but subside within 2 to 3 hours.
