20:4 fast/feed

Day 1 success. I chose my ‘feed’ hours 3-7pm because that’s the timeframe I primarily eat anyway. I drank coffee, tea and water during the day and will continue through the night with water and probably some tea.

I felt fine all day but did overeat during my food period of time. I ate things I normally like to eat instead of especially healthy foods and feel a little too full. (my diet isn’t terrible, but I don’t restrict anything) I was worried I’ll be hungry waiting for 3pm tomorrow.

I’m wondering if I should have an even longer fast, or really try to change my diet/not binge during feast time. I’ll see how I feel tomorrow to decide.

just ride out the 20:4 fasts for a week or two before you decide on any big changes. your body is going to be adjusting a decent bit. Especially if you havent fasted for a while. Always listen to your head, if you feel dizzy, lightheaded or lethargic end the fast. You got this!!! im on my first 2 weeks of omad and i feel great!

it took me a while to adjust to 20:4 (i also eat between 3-7!) and at the beginning i found myself overeating, esp at the start of my eating window.

give yourself some time to adjust. knowing what you’re going to eat is part of what can help manage binging. i found myself constipated on 20:4 so now i break my fast w a fibre and protein-filled smoothie. once i have that i might have a hard boiled egg or beef stick an hour later to up my protein intake. and then dinner is protein (meat or tofu or beans) with veggies. i still eat pasta sometimes. making sure you’re meeting nutritional needs (ie protein and fats) will go a long way to helping keep 20:4 sustainable and productive!

You’re still experimenting with it. So trying different things is perfectly okay. If you find one plan works better than others, then do that. There’s no ‘right or wrong’ way, just try to keep as long a fasting window as you can.
