20-4 Weekend struggle...!

So I usually keep to a 20-4 weekly routine somewhat easily. Sometimes 19-5, other times 21-3. But in the weekend… MAN is it hard! I’m a 39 yo woman, I work full time, so does my husband. We have 3 kids (17-9-8) and the weekends are all over the place, like in most families I suppose. I have this unhealthy habit of being ashamed if I don’t manage to complete my fast, or ‘’give in’’ It’s easy at work. But at home in the weekend, it’s mainly the movie nights or game nights where everyone is having treats, hubby having a beer… and I’m like sipping my damn tea \^\^ And then monday comes and I’m disapointed in myself when I give in.

What are your tricks? do you not do weekends? are you less strict? I have trouble bouncing back when I give in. Telling myself I’m not good at this… I know it’s not true but yeah. I thought I’d ask the community.

I’m pretty strict 18:6 or 20:4 during the week, but I’m a bit more laxed on the weekend, usually following a 16:8 or something similar. I’ve even done a 12:12 on the weekends before. Although this past weekend I was pretty good about 20:4. It varies. But yea, I’m definitely a bit more laxed on Saturday and Sunday.

I have no solution to offer but I HEAR YOU mama! I’m 43, mum of a 13 year old work full time etc. Weekdays at work are easy. Weekends I struggle but overall I am more flexible because I feel like it’s okay to LIVE too. I also want to be hyper aware about setting a healthy example for my teenage daughter. It’s a balance for sure!

Answer

Not in your situation, but I probably would relax my fasting hours to 16:8, and maybe move it a little so I can eat at the right time of day, like during movie night.

Oh, and find ways to keep busy :)

Or buy them snacks that you don’t like.
