24 h fasting blood sugar

Hi all I’m I wanted to get someone’s knowledge on this. So I’m coming to an end on my 24 hour fast. I went to the gym and worked out hard for 60 minutes my average heart rate was 172 peaking at 190 according to my heart rate monitor I burned about 1200 cals. I say that to say this my fasting blood sugar (type2 diabetic) is 94 but has been way lower after eating a big keto meal as low as 74 is it normal for my blood sugar to be as high as it is? After fasting for 24 hours and working out?

Answer

Working out raises your blood sugar, fasting also can cause high morning fasting numbers (particularly in T2) because your liver creates glucose. The problem with T2 is the liver and insulin don’t function properly so instead of going, “Oh my looks like it’s time to wake up/perk up, here love, have a little sugar” it goes, “OH FUCK WAKE THE FUCK UUUUUUPPPPPP” and blows its whole load of glucose all at once.

This is why it’s often recommend to have a small snack before bed if you’re having problems with your fasting bg. That way your body uses that for energy and your liver doesn’t go nuts producing all that sugar.
