24 hour fast pre long run

I have a long 45 min run tomorrow. But I ate something this morning that I was intolerant too, would it be okay to do a 24 hour fast even though I have a long run tomorrow?

Answer

It depends on you. You know your body better than anyone. But if your body is properly stocked nutritionally, just keep up some electrolytes and you should be fine. If it’s competitive, fasting might put you at a disadvantage (body type depending) BUT if you’re like me, letting your body heal from a bad food experience will do WAY more good for you

But if this isn’t competitive? Go for it. Lots of people exercise on extended fasts without issue. Good luck and enjoy! Hope you’re feeling better

Answer

No, doing a long run after a 24h fast? Is that necessary? Just do it afterwards. And what’s the distance? I know for sure this is NOT good. You’re gonna be way to weak. I’m not talking about a good performance only. But about your health and risks….Just do it after the run… Maybe one meal after the run and then start your fasting. I even would wait minimum 12 hours after the run to start fasting.
