24 hour fast was surprisingly easy - too good to be true?

Hi all! I’d like to see if anyone had a similar experience.

Ive been doing 18-6 hour fasts most days of the week for a few weeks now, and decided to try a 24 hour fast for the first time. I was quite nervous and worried as ive never gone that long without food before.

I felt hungrier in the first 12 hours! Once I passed the 18 hour mark i had a black coffee and it felt like my hunger cues completely disappeared! I was able to run my errands comfortably, was sociable and in a good mood, and wasnt even hungry when i broke it at 24 hours but decided I should eat as planned and not push my luck.

After I ate (grilled lamb, boiled veggies, a few spoons of white rice) i felt sleepy and lied down but thats normal and has happened to me before. I then went on a walk and felt great :)

What a success! Ill be sticking to 18-6 for the next week then attempting 24 hours again.

Anyone had a similar experience with no growling stomach and no irritability? Or was it just “begginners luck” for me?

Sounds like you had a good first OMAD! It could be that you’re conditioning your body towards longer fasts with your current protocol, so maybe not beginner’s luck but something your body is ready for?

I’m a few months into it and I’m at the point where my body is just used to it, no growling stomach or any other of that for a long while. I get more psychologically hungry than physically tbh and some days can be really annoying bc of that but I just drink my black coffee and move on.

Very similar experience over here! I started with a week of 16:8 and it felt too easy… the next week I did 18:6 just pushed my lunch back 2 hours. Again- easy! By week 3 I was doing OMAD and haven’t looked back. I did one 36 hour fast and it was a challenge but not unbearable. I will continue to do OMAD for the foreseeable future with some 36 and hopefully 48 hour fasts. In these 3 weeks, I’ve lost 7 pounds and I feel great!
