24+ hour fasts: what do you do about talking to people and thinking about food the whole time?

So the two times I’ve done 48 hour fasts, I literally just spend the whole time thinking about what I’m going to eat next. I also feel my personality changes and I’m afraid to go out with people and be a weirdo. What do long fasters do while fasting?

I had this problem even doing 16:8 in the beginning. For me personally, I have to keep myself occupied and always be doing something (which is kind of who I am anyway). There’s always something to be done around the house and I’m picking up my first project car at the end of this month. For me, it’s just keeping busy and doing things so I’m not sitting around thinking about food.

Yup! Keeping busy is the only thing that works. But even then sometimes the food thoughts still creep, dreaming of my next meal. The other problem is when I stop being busy, I feel like I want to kill something just to eat it! LOL

When i do longer fasts i usually spend quite a bit of time shopping cooking and preparing. Maybe ill make a slow roast casserole or bake a loaf that takes a 12 hour prove. Make a soup for the freezer. I dont avoid food at all as i find it makes things worse. Also find it a good time to do an audit of groceries in stock, and work on meal plans or shopping lists. ( i have lots of food im just choosing not to eat it right now)

Im not super strict tho and will have a coffee with milk with freinds or have other low cal drinks like tea or diet cokes. I dont do longer fasts when I am socialising tho, i like to enjoy eating with friends and enjoy the event without stress.

When I do a longer fast, as the others said, I usually keep me busy and also, when meeting people, I talk honest to them and so far I never had a negative response. Everyone was fine with it and didn’t asked me if I want something to eat again
