It is technically possible to “gain weight” on a 3 day fast, but only in terms of actual mass, e.g., numbers on a scale. It isn’t possible realistically to create more fat mass without consuming food. But, you can consume liquid (like water.)
What I notice most about these stories is that people tend to drink like fish during their fast because they’re inexperienced. They don’t understand their hunger cues and so they just drink and drink and drink hoping to shut up their hunger pangs.
Lo and behold, come weigh in day, they’ve downed as much water as whatever fat they’ve burned and then some. “What, how did I gain weight??” shockedpikachuface.jpeg
Then there’s the metabolism at play. Hormones can cause a person to retain water weight. So, focus on the long term, not the short term.
You might want to check out /r/fasting. This sub is more for intermittent fasting, which the most common eating window is 16 hours of fasting and eating in an 8 hour window. Some other common ones are 20/4 or OMAD(only eating one large meal a day).
