30-day dirty fast (help ?)

Hi. I’m on day-2 of a 30-day fast. Mainly doing that for weight loss benefits.

I red that autophagy effects peak on day-3.

So I’ve been thinking that every 3-days-or-so, I could drink some vegetable broth consisting of the lowest carb vegetable (no starchy vegetable), salt and cayenne pepper, all filtered.

It would help me tremendously sticking to the fast, and perhaps replenish my electrolytes/sodium levels efficiently. (Or would it ?)

I do know I will not benefit entirely from the (30-day) fasting overall benefits, but for weight-loss purpose, and some autophagy (multiple ~72h), isn’t it a good plan in order to help me keep going ?

I believe the saying « dont let the perfect be the enemy of the good » fit good here.

As it’s the first time I’m fasting for so long, I’d be happy to hear any input, advice, infos, anything really.

:D

Answer

I don’t really see how a cup or two of broth is the difference between you staying on the fast or not, but if it is, then go ahead and do it. As you say, it will lower some of the effectiveness of the fast, but likely not to a great degree.
