36+ Hour Fast Group Motivation Thread, beginning Saturday evening Jan. 22

tldr; post here for a group 36+ hour fast, fasting all day Sunday!

Finding a little online group for fasting support and motivation has been tougher than I expected. The fasting app groups don’t get enough personal attention, and r/fasting is fantastic for posting individual progress but doesn’t have many ongoing fasting groups.

So I wanted to throw out this little test group for those who’d like to join in a 36 (or more! - no reason you can’t continue) hour fast, beginning Saturday evening. The exact time is at your own choosing, no need for us to nitpick on time zones, etc. However, this is ONLY for people starting Saturday evening, so we can all be at roughly the same point in the journey.

All are welcome, but this is primarily geared towards getting like-minded redditors together to update and motivate each other on their progress.

Newbies and those seeking psychological help are especially encouraged; I personally have yet to complete a 36 hour goal, and I suspect I’ll have a much better go of it if I’m in an accountable group with others.

Well, I was thinking about this…maybe I’ll join? Was thinking about a 36 hr. fast, I usually start a couple hours before bedtime. I haven’t fasted since before Thanksgiving, was off my LC/Keto diet and gained about 10 pounds.

The second evening is the hardest for me. Sometimes I’m OK; sometimes I get nauseous from not eating or can’t fall asleep because of all the tasty goodies dancing through my head.

Really happy to see the positive response so far. I figured it wasn’t just me who wanted something like this but I wasn’t entirely sure.

I’ve attempted maybe five 36 hour fasts so far, but have not yet materially passed the 20th hour. The crazy part is, I don’t end it because I’m “hungry.” I end it because my mind gets in a clearly temporary state of addictive insanity, feeling, I “must” eat. My rational brain knows I can wait it out another 20 minutes and be OK, but thus far, my irrational brain has won.

I’d love it if all of us can share our experiences, no matter what. Even if we “fail,” let’s still update and encourage each other, and do our best to explain what happened for each of us, no matter what. Every single one of us knows we 100% can do this and we know every time we do it, the next time gets even easier - so let’s let our rational minds win, together

Just finished a 36, y’all got this! It’s easy enough and I think it really helps me to do them. It’s also the hardest part tho, maybe even easier to go farther than that if you have some experience and your bodyfat isn’t already too low
