I'm a father of two whose weight crept up in the first six months of having number two. I finally got tired enough of feeling uncomfortable with myself (and chucking more and more favorite shirts into the bottom dresser drawer) that I gave IF another go. I'd made a pass at it a few years ago, but didn't take the right mindset into it and sputtered out despite some modest progress. Here are the toplines: * 38 years old, SW 215 lbs (97.5 kg), GW 179 lbs (81.2 kg), CW 177 lbs (80.3 kg) * Started fasting process August 24, 2022, reached goal weight December 7, 2022 * 20:4, but with flexibility to do 16:8 for family events or restrict to OMAD if that's all I needed * Weighed daily and used Fastic for Android for fast and weight tracking * In the opening weeks especially, severely restricted processed carbohydrates * No change in exercise patterns, moderately active chasing two kids around * Diet was just back to basics: * High bulk * Lots of veggies * Whole grains * Lean meats * High protein vegetarian options * Lots of color and texture variation https://preview.redd.it/qa1jt5npbn8a1.jpg?width=3264&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3c21c9dcffbd78f581b72a74cd9cecd1a88ff4f4 * Meal planning was crucial, you'll fall into ruts almost immediately otherwise * Take a daily multivitamin; I've been told by plenty of people it's a waste of money, but if I'm one-shotting a nutritional opportunity, I can't imagine I'm getting 100% of every micronutrient I need every single time. Maybe that's just the incredulity fallacy, but it gives me peace of mind. I've done a full writeup of my experience that's beyond the bounds of a reddit post; I'll not post a link so as to not run afoul of the sub's self-promotion guidelines, but if you're interested, putting my username in a search engine will get you where you want to go. Happy to answer questions here though.

Me (36M) 3 kids with a 4th about to show up. It’s good to know I’m not the only one who’s seen the creep of weight and decided to do something about it.

2 years ago I fit size 36 and could squeeze in 34 waist pants. These days size 40 is comfortable and size 42 is in view.

I decided to fix it and finding your post is very helpful. I’ve made changes to my lifestyle that are similar to what it sounds like you’ve done.

Thanks for sharing and keep it up!
