40 hour-ish fasts seem to work for me. Would like to go higher but it seems a lot harder.

Hello everyone,

I have been fasting on and off. My longest fast has been 5 days (120 hours) however I only pulled this off once a few years ago.

When COVID hit however I got a bit depressed and the lockdown kilos hit me hard. I am now going to try to lose those kilos. However for me the 40 hour fasts have always worked best. I have done 72’s before but I just won’t last long with them. The 40 hour fasts I know I can keep up for at least 2 - 3 months.

I would however like to fast longer. And I see some people fast for 5+ days on the steady or longer. I know the first three days are the hardest. But I also know I can still be light headed on day 5 and I won’t drive a car if I’m like that.

Anyone else who is in a similar shape than me? Where 40 hours just seems to be the most sustainable option? Or maybe someone was like me but moved towards longer fasts? Somehow I cannot really get to rolling 72’s.

Answer

Yes around 40 hours is the most suitable for me otherwise it starts to affect my lifestyle too much. I get too weak, dizzy on standing etc.

I do longer fasts every now and then but usually when I’m not working, exercising or around family.

Answer

You don’t want to go past 72hrs for weoghtloss because atuphagy falls off past that point. What helps me when doing my 72 hour fasts is staying in keto for refeeds and drinking snake juice(electrolytes).
