Shit. I didn’t actually post my question! Anyway, here goes…

This is my first ever fast (dry or water) and I’m doing this because I have back and leg pain from a herniated disc. It’s been a tough couple of days but I think I can do another 24. My questions is about autofagy. Will I start to feel pain reduction in the final 24 hrs? Or is this the sort of thing that happens afterwards? I already think there has been some mild reduction in pain symptoms at this point but I’m half delirious from thirst and lack of sleep.

Any info or experiences are greatly appreciated.

Answer

It varies, but the rule of thumb is varying types of autophagy and healing kick in at 3, 5, and 7 days. Stem cell release starts around day 3, so if you can make 5 days/120 hours that will have a big impact.

You will already have had a lot of benefits making it two days, so congrats there.
