5 Day Goal not happening

I’m experienced water fast individual and have done extended and prolong water fast, but holy shit. I’m trying to do 5 day dry fast and it’s torturing me. i’m currently on day 3. My lips are dry and bothering me and experiencing stomach discomfort. My energy is high. I don’t want my lips to crack lol … I think I’m going to have to drink water and continue my fast as water fasting from there on. What say you?

Once the stress levels get too high it’s appropriate to call the fast. Now you know what you are currently able to do. Work on it by doing smaller but more frequent fasts and then try again. Believe me when I say that it is possible to go 5 days and not feel phased. It takes time for the body to adapt. Respect the process.

So you didn’t have dry fasting experience and jumped into a 5 day fast?

I’m not knocking you, but it’s better to have tried a few 24 and 48 hour dry fasts first before attempting longer ones.

Yes, Day 3 sucks. I have done 3 72-hour fasts in a row and it always results in cracked lips for me. And I am not lean by any means (over 30% bodyfat).

Did you at hydrate with salts before going straight in?

That exactly happend to me during my first dry fast, I only got to 55 hours, I had to stop because my throat and mouth were so dry. However, after two of these, I tried another time and I got to 103 hours with no issues (my mouth was dry only some minutes after waking up everyday). What a pity that due to social events I had to stop it. Next time I will try to get to 7 day, becuase it is when magic starts to happen!

You’re not supposed to dry fast more than 3 days. Get a bit of water, don’t drink too much at once. What I do is generally 2 days dry, one day with water, then I can repeat dry fast. But do not dry fast more than 3 days. You can really die from this. Go take a small glass of water
