8+ weeks of plateau and I am getting so FRUSTRATED

I’ve been on a gagillion diets and every time I hit a plateau, that’s when I give up. I’m determined to break that cycle. My health depends on it.

I was doing great on IF for a few months. Managed to lose almost 50 lbs. Went on vacay for 3 weeks in July. Ate relatively healthy and moving a lot compensated for my bad meals but I did stop IF. I figure this was usually when my weight loss starts to wane (though my weight wasn’t waning yet) so switching it up and getting back to IF after vacay would keep things running smoothly.

Well, I was wrong. Ever since July, I haven’t lost any weight. My weight is fluctuating +/- 5 pounds. I have 50 more lbs I’d like to lose to feel normal and about 80 lbs to be at a normal weight.

The only major thing that’s changed is I’ve added monkfruit/erythritol to my diet. I was having it before the vacay and still losing weight but I’ve probably increased it since then. Not anything crazy but like I add it to my coffee now when/if I drink any. I’ve also started adding almond butter to my greek yogurt.

If you’ve got anything to add, I’d love to read it but most importantly, thank you for letting me vent. Just feeling so defeated!

Go clean. Do a fresh start: first Ditch those add-ons you’ve adopted to your coffee and breakfast. And secondly Minimize your eating window. Go OMAD if you have to. You still have a goal to achieve and I’m sure you can do it if you keep your eyes firmly on your goal.

I plateaued for 6 months after losing steadily for the first 7 and it was frustrating because I wanted my weight to keep decreasing at the same rate. Slowly but surely my weight has kept going down, though, and I’m about a year and a half in now. Thinking about IF as a lifestyle change instead of a diet has helped me be patient with the process.

From personal experience and posts I’ve seen on here, plateaus happen periodically—just keep it up and remember it’s a long game.

The lighter you get the less you need to eat to make the same losses. Your body now requires less energy to maintain its current weight.

Try extending your fast or reducing your meals / calories.
