84 hours into a fast - Is 5 Hour Energy diminishing my results?

Hello, I’ve been fasting for quite some time now. Usually after day 2 of a fast, the keto strips are a deep purple. Large amount of ketones. But at this moment, I’m only getting a small-moderate amount.

This is the first time I’ve added the 5 hour energy (Extra Strength) — I only sip it, and take in about 1/4 of a bottle each day (plus maybe 1/2 a cup of black coffee (with nothing else))

Has anyone else had a similar experience? Maybe it’s the taurine or Sucralose?

I’ve done 2 workouts of very intense exercise — which usually depletes my glycogen enough to jumpstart my body into ketosis. Thank you!!

Answer

It does have sucralose, and a few doctors / fitness YouTubers who talk about IF and extended fasting state that sucralose contains maltodextrin which spikes insulin. So it can break your fast and impede fat burning even if it’s 0 calories.

Unsweetened tea with Stevia is good though, doesn’t break your fast. I use that and it’s so good. :)
