A "cold turkey" 48 hour fast.

I’ve never fasted longer than 18 hours, but the last few weeks I’ve been so depressed and eating horrible everyday. I’m getting back on track. I’m thinking of starting with a 48 hour fast. It just feels like I need to give my body a break from all the crap I’ve been ingesting. Anyway, my question is: should I build up to a 48 hour fast or cold turkey it? Pros/cons? Thank you.

I did a 40-hour fast 5 days ago for the same exact reason that you want to do yours. I’d been eating horrible this year and I wanted to get all the horrible stuff out of my body.

I thought it was to do 72 hours but I decided on 48. I could have made it to 48 but I got a concert ticket and I ate because I did not want to go to a concert during a fast.

The fast was actually very easy and eye opening. The only difficult part was the queasiness, I rarely felt hungry, but we’ll get this feeling of my stomach like I wanted to vomit but there was nothing in there.

I had a ton of energy during the fast and I felt great. If you do decide to fast, break your fast very slowly. I ate 12 almonds and drink a glass of water to break my fast and I wound up vomiting on the sidewalk.

When I did get hungry or feel too queasy I would sip on pickle juice and that really helped.
