A question about fasting and working out

Hey people im 24 lost 50kgs in the last 7 months and im 20kgs away from my goal weight. I’ve been doing omad since but i decided to add running to my daily routine instead of just light exercises, Im planning to run very early in the morning but i figured my body can’t afford that much energy for running with an empty stomach so im planning to switch to 20/4. My question is for the people who split their meals between exercising, what do you eat before and after and how much calories do you consume in those meals? Im currently getting around 1000-1200 calories daily while doing OMAD

Are you just starting running or ??? All my morning runs are done “fasted” except for my weekend long runs (over 90 minutes). I know a lot of runners who do their morning run before they eat (not because they do IF or anything, just like it better). I say that as you really don’t necessarily need to eat before your run. If you ate OMAD at night you’ll should be good to go in the morning, but also it’s YMMV situation - try it fasted and see how you feel.

So school of greatness podcast has a lotttt of eps on fasting, I’m sure you’ll find it useful. What stuck with me that’s related to your q is that eating before the workout is not a necessity, but eating food after your workout that is good for your muscles is essential as your body is especially vulnerable then, so good fats, lean protein, fibre. My go to is a couple of boiled eggs, half an avocado, cucumber and apple salad, but I’m sure you could include meat in there as well.

Try running while fasting and see how you feel! Plenty of people here work out while fasting and feel great. Others find that they do need to shift their IF schedule around workouts, and that’s fine too. But you won’t know until you try. You might be one of the people who loves running while fasting!

(PS — haha, autocorrect tried to turn that into “running while farting”!)
