A small win

(F/32/5’6 SW: 230 CW: 221 GW: 145)

I didn’t want to say anything until I had finished; long time lurker first time poster and you see so many “hour one of my first 96 hour fast!” and then you never hear anything from them again.

I broke my first 96 hour fast about 2.5 hours ago with watermelon, then some plain Greek yogurt, no issues. 30 minutes ago I finished 8 oz of the best grass-fed ribeye I could get my hands on topped with a bit of the good Gorgonzola because sure why not, and a handful of home-grown green beans sautéed in ghee. I’m definitely ready to sleep for days, but other than that I feel awesome.

A few thoughts:

I don’t know what alla y’all are on about. I can barely taste the snake juice, and if I try really hard the thing it tastes closest to is skim milk. I’ve been mixing two litres of it up in the morning and then keeping a water bottle full with that and a few ice cubes, sipping throughout the day and alternating with plain water. I’m using Epsom salts, arm & hammer brand baking soda, pink salt, and Walmart brand salt substitue (same ingredients as nu-salt).

The most important thing I learned here was to never trust a fart. There were a few times I was gonna and then thought nah, probably shouldn’t… guess what, you were right, I should not have.

Even in the final hours, I was not actually hungry. I don’t think I was actually hungry the whole time, I was mostly just bored. I don’t think I capitalized on my boredom as much as I could have, and I’m going to try and pay more attention.

I’ve seen a lot about rolling 48’s or 72’s, but I think I’m going to try 2x 48 & 1x 72 per week — that comes out to a round week, which should make it easier to a schedule around my work. I know there’s a guy here who refeeds on sundays and wednesdays and likes it for the same reasons.

The only thing I really really missed was a cold beer on a hot afternoon, but I’ve been telling myself that once I get in to maintenance that’s something I can try and work in to my routine. If y’all have any tips on that one please do let me know 😂

Update: oh god I take it all back lol — 12 hours after breaking my fast and I’ve got the worst cramps of my life, comparable with getting an IUD put in, cold sweats, hot clammy skin, and everything that went in is quickly making its way out. I done fucked up yall. Feels like there’s a food processor in my gut.

👍🏻 nice!! Keep going! I broke my first 96hours with some yummy fish but guess what!! Yeah. Same situation. Thankfully I am on holidays but I just rolled into another 96 anyways. (Had eaten some watermelon and snacks earlier that day to get my intestines working but alas…) Still lost weight. Definitely was hard but weight loss keeps me going.

I saw someone comment about breaking their fasts with some chia seeds or psyllium before eating, so that’s what I did coming off of my first fast, which was 7 days long. I had bourbon pork belly, bone marrow with toast and chutney, Brussels sprouts with bacon, a beer, and a Moscow mule. No stomach discomfort for me after starting with a spoonful of chia seeds and a glass of water and waiting roughly 30 min before eating.

First of all congratulations. Second, I agree with almost everything you said. Since I found out after a couple of longish fasts (19 and 14 days) I don’t have any refeeding issues provided I drink the snake juice (tasty stuff imo) I always break my fast with a steak on the grill and some whisky and diet cokes. I usually find I’m a pound or two down even after refeeds. Right now I’m doing two meals a week on my 72 and 96-hour snake juice fasting program. Here’s to continued success for you. And don’t trust a fart EVER.
