About going to the bathroom...

I know it’s a disgusting matter, but how are feces managed by the body during an extended fast? Is there any chance of them becoming liquid? Or does the body not expell anything? Could I have problems?

It’s not disgusting at all lol everybody poops dud. Yeah you probably gonna take a dump once or twice tops and around 48-54hr it just stops. Just be aware of letting a quiet one because this sub had waaay too many posts regarding “not trusting the fart”.

Refeeding might be pain in the ass….. but if you gonna do it slowly and wisely add up your calories you’re going to be good.

Everyone experiences this differently when fasting. For some many it starts with some light diarrhoea and then normalises after a few days. Psyllium husks are a godsend and these days I take them whether or not I’m fasting for incredibly quick clean shits.

In terms of the “how,” I’ve read that during a fast, your intestines just stop moving the waste matter, so it’s unlikely to have to “go” during fasting. My longest fast has only ever been 42 hours, and I’ve had no bathroom troubles (but I have IBS-C, so I almost think my fasts enhance my constipation.)
