About Magnesium

How much magnesium do we absorb from seeds, nuts, legumes and whole grains? Because they contain phytates and the magnesium itself is bind to insoluble fiber which we can’t digest. So anyone knows, do we really absorb magnesium from foods?

It can be very hard to know because often times, our ability to absorb nutrients depends on many factors. Genetics, other foods, how well your body absorbs a particular nutrient.

I dont know much about magnesium vs seeds etc.. But heres a fun similar thing.

For extreme health reasons, I had to go fully carnivore for the last 4 years. As long as I am eating beef, fish, and occasional egg yolks and beef liver… I havent needed vitamin c or any other vitamin for the deficiencies I usually had, because I am no longer eating any sugars or grains or fibers that can interfere with absorption.

There are new studies happening for kids with various health issues including ADHD where dietary changes are being implemented to combat vitamin deficiencies caused by the “standard american diet”.

Many important vitamins are fat soluble. Healthy fats like those in meats, fish, and eggs for example can help with the absorption.

I cant answer your specific question, but you are asking the right questions.

Before supplements, humans relied on food. I have a feeling those humans were just fine with getting enough magnesium. Phytates don’t absorb all the nutrients. If you’re very concerned, soak, sprout, and boil.
