Add ginger to green tea while fasting

Hello,

I’m not gonna eat the ginger, but just add it to the tea in order to get its benefits.

Is it gonna break the fast?

According to https://nutritiondata.self.com/facts/vegetables-and-vegetable-products/2447/2, 1/4 cup of raw ginger has 20 calories. While this is mostly from carbs, I don’t think that’s enough to “break a fast”, even you just eat it.

But, that depends on what you define as “breaking a fast”. Any amount of calories you consume will be converted to glucose and used for energy instead of burning fat, technically breaking your fast. But maybe that ginger in your tea will allow you to extend your fast longer, and you end up burning more fat than you otherwise would have.

I drink 1 coffee in the morning, and turmeric/mint tea the rest of the day. These do have calories, so technically break my fast. But they make life much more enjoyable, and I like to enjoy life, so I’m not giving them up.
