Legs are a huge muscle group and use a lot of oxygen. This is why so many people avoid training legs in the same manner as upper body, because the two ‘burns’ are completely different. Any elite level bodybuilder or power lifter will attest to this. Legs just require a different mind set. Probably not helpful, or what you want to hear, but I think knowing this and knowing that you are continuing and being consistent is far more useful than a vitamin or mineral you may spend some money on for a small percentage overall reduction in soreness. It probably doesn’t help that you have naturally bigger legs because again more muscle fiber recruitment and oxygen usage. Good on you for getting back into some sort of routine though after 5 years. That’s what I’d be most pumped about. Also you may notice in a month or so it’s much diminished and was just a product of not being used to the gym for 5 years.
