Advice on being irritable

Hey folks, I’ve been fasting for a week and I’ve already seen great results. It’s been largely quite easy. I’m eating a little more than two meals a day, with a lot less sugar than normal. However, I find that I have bouts of irritability. I’ve tried fasting in the past and have been forced to quite due to mood. Can someone give me a clue what’s going on and how I can go about reducing my irritability? Thanks!

The first thing is to be aware, which it sounds like you are. It’s ok to feel irritable, but we don’t want to act on those negative feels. If you do with someone, take responsibility, “I’m sorry, I’m in a bad mood today”. It will pass, you may need to find other things that promote positive emotions, exercise, positive touch, petting a dog. I’ve also had to break fast due to mood and difficult emotions. I think it comes from depriving ourselves from a regular source of joy we get through eating, and it can be difficult to fill that space.
