Advice on dirty fasting

I clean fast every day I’m able to, 18/6, but on days I work I’ve been drinking a 0 or 10 cal energy drink. I work 12 hour shifts at a sedentary job, so I will literally fall asleep if I don’t have something. I hate plain tea and black coffee, so I don’t see any other options really.

My question is- will this seriously effect me in the long run? I only work 2-3 days a week, sometimes less. I know it produces an insulin response but im only fasting for weight loss. I know this probably slows down my progress a little bit but I was wondering how much? Should I get those little caffeine drink packets for water instead? I don’t think the dirty fasting will kill me but I hate to see it slow me down.

Answer

If your primary focus is weight loss it’s the overall calorie deficit that still matters the most. There’s still going to be hours where your digestion and insulin die down and the body will be accessing fat stores again, unless you’re literally drinking them all the time.
