Advice on lower calories for one day

I’ve done IF for 3 years, had a 1 year break after a surgery and then started again for about 3 months.

I have a work event today. I ate about 700 calories to break my fast around 1:30 p.m. I normally stop fasting by 5. I won’t be home from my event until 7:30 p.m. and go to bed around 9.

If I have 1 days with so few calories, will it be a big deal? I struggle to sleep after eating so I’d almost rather just not eat again until tomorrow around 11 a.m.

Answer

No, it’s more about a pattern of behavior. Some folks fast for even multiple days and are still perfectly healthy overall despite taking in zero calories. You’re not going to keel over dead, get scurvy, or lose a bunch of muscle mass from one day below recommended minimums.

But trying to eat something light but nutrient dense when you do get home wouldn’t be the worst idea either.
