Advised not to consume salty foods when breaking my 2-week long water fast?

Some fasting advocates on youtube are saying I should avoid breaking my fast with carby and excessively fatty foods, which I understand the logic of, but they also say I should eat foods without any sodium whatsoever as a best practice.

What are the reasons for this? Especially when we are encouraged to drink electrolytes and consume salt throughout the water fast. The logic doesn’t seem to make any sense to me.

My plan is to break my fast with some cooked salmon along with cooked asparagus, Is this acceptable?

Answer

Honestly I would do bone broth since this is an extended fast, that way the low calories and liquid will “wake your digestive system up” before you just dump a full meal on it. I don’t think the meal matters so much but I would space it out, over the course of a few hours. But a cup of bone broth maybe 2 hours before the reintroduction of food I think would be helpful to wake the system up and grab some good nutrients.
