I have done “dirty” fasts on and off for 3 years. I simply cannot give up my unsweetened almond milk in my tea! (dairy does not taste the same). It’s 30 cals, 1 carb per cup. Am I shooting myself in the foot by having this? I do have two/three cups of tea a day and I use about a cup of it total. Other than that, I have sparkling water.
I do also have to have an egg on days I need take my meds (discussed prior on here).
Am I able to see ketosis and eventually autophagy if I do an extended fast (3+ days)?
Autophagy is constantly on, it’s more ramped up with a more stricter fast, but up to 500 calories you still see many of the hormone’s/signs of a fast such as lower LDL, higher tris, lower mtor, lower wbc count, I wouldn’t worry too much about it, just don’t eat a lot of carbs and you’re fine.
