Okay, so on Thursday 02/08/2018, I stopped eating @ 12:00pm and didn’t have another meal until Saturday @ 10:00am. It was a 42 hours water only fast and although it was tough here and there, I got through it fairly easy.
I ate normally on Saturday, starting with fruits and working up to heavier meals (small portions as I got full really quick) and then only had dinner on Sunday.
What I want to try is alternate day, water only fasting. Basically, as of end of dinner last night 02/11/2018, I have not had anything but water, and I am not eating again until dinner tonight 02/12/2018. Then eat normally Tuesday 02/13/2018 and resume post dinner with nothing but water until dinner Wednesday 02/14/2018.
I am a little overweight currently 6’1 210ish but that isn’t the point. I enjoy the energy levels and metal focus that come along with it. I can’t find much on the internet other than restricting calories every other day, but what I am thinking is eliminating calories every other day. Any information on this would be appreciated. If anyone has experiences to share I would also appreciate that.
Disclaimer: I have done keto, 16/8 IF in the past. The 42 hour fast was definitely the longest I have endured.
Alternate day works great for weight loss. However, refeeding with fruits is just as bad as ice cream. Fruits we’ve bred to be tasty today contain so much more sugar than they would have in the wild a thousand years ago, and fructose is just as bad as straight up glucose. Instead try something fatty, like meat, or if that’s against your religion, an avocado or olives. You can keep your body in fat-burning mode by doing this rather than sugar-burning mode or flip flopping between the two.
Alternate days is OK, but I would think, to really get through your glucose and liver fat, you’d be better off with 2 days. I’m no expert by any means. Just what I’ve read: https://www.dietdoctor.com/intermittent-fasting#work
