Hey all, I have been doing IF (16:8) for 4 weeks with CICO (1500 cals) as a way to lose weight. I love fasting. It keeps me energized, and really helps me focus on what I’m eating. It’s also helped me up my water game. Since I’ve been doing IF I’ve realized how badly I bloat when I eat. I eat slowly and always break my fast with something light, usually a protein drink. Throughout the day I get progressively more bloated and my stomach looks awful by dinner time.
I’ve looked in to food intolerances however I don’t have any of the other symptoms. I’m in no pain, have no BM issues, and rarely have gas. I just get a belly that looks like I’m pregnant. I drink a lot of water (3L a day) and limit my salt intake so I doubt it’s water retention. I’m thinking it could be carb related because I never felt bloated when I did Keto, but I felt nauseas and had awful headaches for two months straight and was constantly “backed up” despite upping my fiber intake.
I guess I feel like I’m in a lose/lose situation here. It’s either do what I’m doing and be constantly self conscious about eating and looking pregnant, or not be bloated but feel sick all the time. (I feel like it’s worth noting that even though I’m not doing Keto, my daily carb consumption still hovers around under 100g daily.)
I’d appreciate any advice you ladies have about battling bloat. Or is that just how my body is, and I need to find out how to accept that?
I have this too. I’m sorry I don’t know the answer but you’re not alone. Hopefully someone can help with this.
I’m hoping that it’s because I am in the overweight BMI/10 lbs from obese and it’ll even out when I weigh less. Paper towel roll effect or whatever.
I haven’t seen a GI about intolerances yet, but I am 90% sure I am lactose intolerant. I’m hoping I don’t have PCOS.
Switch up your protein drink and maybe start with something else. I cannot start my day with dairy without feeling sick and being bloated. Also most protein products include milk solids.
I always broke my fast with ACV or fruits and veggies.
Just my take and thoughts based off my experiences. I hope you find a solution!
