193 cm (6’3” ?) M48 SW 146kg CW 115kg - 4.5 months - 30 kg loss (66 pounds) (Europe based)
24/48h water fast after cheat meal + OMAD
Back from the (new) doctor, second time ever I see him since the first time in September.
Excellent blood pressure (12/7) (from 14/9 high) Excellent resting heart rate (60 !!!!) (From 80+)
I got congratulations on losing weight and critics on loosing weight too fast in the same sentence
Speaking to him about wanting potassium gave me a tirade on how supplementing with metal salts was dangerous. Had to explain I just wanted electrolytes. Seems I just have to eat bananas…
Explaining I drank 4 liters water a day got me an tirade on how dangerous it is. Reminding him of me asking for electrolytes didn’t work. Reminding him that at 193cm for 100+ kg also not a point.
Explaining I take a Solgar Multi Male vitamin to compensate for unbalances in my diet got me a “vitamins were not pushed by doctors, you don’t need it if you have a balanced diet…r/thanksimcured
Explaining I stopped drinking alcohol but kept on smoking weed got me an offer for anxiolytics medication to replace it. Mostly because it’s a known dose and “controllable”.
My friends are also appealed that I do a 24h fast after the Sunday Lunch With Parents Cheat Meal Of The Week (TM), and even more appealed when I tell them I do a 48h if I drank alcohol…Also was told I lose weight too fast, and I’ll finish as an obese in starvation mode that has to relearn how to eat “properly”
So, what do I make of this long, long tirade ? I feel I’m on the right track with 24/48h fasts after cheat meal, and OMAD the rest of the week. Should I moderate the weight loss ? Or just smile at the doctor and keep on shedding fat despite his best recommendations ?
If your vitals metrics are all improved what leg does he have to stand on to critic you?
This doctor might not be a right fit for your new eating lifestyle.
Normally losing too much too fast can result in excess skin. Any of that occurring?
Not directly related but I think finding a doctor you trust and respect, but also one who believes in you and understands your needs and goals is super important. I was looking for a [] specialist, and had to go through 3 different ones (mind you, all 3 had different opinions on my problem and misdiagnosed me with different things!) that it wasn’t until the 4th one that I found someone I could work with and who I believe in and believes in me.
I think the doctor patient relationship is super important - the better that is, the more likely you are to succeed. There’s no shame in trying to find a new doctor.
