I have been fasting 16-18hr a day for a few years now. If I want to lose more I count calories too but my doc says it is very healthy for me and a great way to control weight. Check out Gin Stephens books. Very helpful especially if you are a chick
Yes it’s your body’s natural way of getting rid of fat which is what our bodies store wait as.
99% of people don’t you know anything about fasting but I highly encourage you to check out dr. Fung on YouTube.. He’s great
Fasting is a tool for healing!! Not weight lose.
If you are overweight then that is sickness so yes you are right to fast!!
If you are normal BMI then you need to change how you eat to lose weight. Get rid of the sugar. You can still use fasting to accelerate but you will just gain the weight back or continue to harm your body unless you change your diet.
I’m fasting for self discipline, and for weight loss, I’m 18, and obese, I’m taking vitamins, and making sure I’m safe, but is fasting okay? I want to make sure I’m not making any bad choices, my mindset is right, but I don’t want to be questioned about my intentions
What are you asking?
If you’re asking if it works then yeah consuming no calories works about as well as it can.
If you’re asking is it sustainable - that’s mostly based on your psychology. Some people love it, grow to love it or hate it.
I’d try to put in an honest 30 days trying before deciding though… and I mean working up to longer fasts for a month - not a 30 fast.
Balance is the key, you’re doing this for the first time it seems and going all out for nothing. Learn milder and sustainable approaches to fasting, like omad. 36h/48h/72h then feeding, research also refeeding syndrome
