Am I the only one whos gained weight while trying to IF?

Ive been following IF for approximatly a week now and I have GAINED 5lbs. I started at 198lbs and this morning I weighed 203lbs. Ive been following the 16/8 plan and eating pretty much the same as I was before but in an 8 hour time san instead of a 15-18 hour time span. I thought I didnt need to reduce calories but needed to shrink my eating window.

Answer

  1. Stick with it for a couple of weeks to a month and see what happens. Impatience is not compatible with any sustainable weight loss plan.

  2. Weight fluctuates for many reasons. You didn’t gain 5 pounds of fat in a week.

  3. Eating the same as before but in a smaller window won’t work for weight loss. You have to have an ongoing calorie deficit. That doesn’t mean a calorie deficit every single day.

Answer

I wouldn’t fret. Most things get worse right before getting better. It usually means you’re making an impact/change and the body notices and freaks out, so to speak.

I heard once, ‘it takes 21 days for your body to adjust to a change, and 3 days to revert back’.

Much luck to your adventure.

Answer

It’s been a week, give it some time and don’t look for quick fixes.

In, say, a month, if you’re still gaining, you’re eating at a caloric surplus. If you’re weight stays within the 195-203 lb range, you’re likely eating maintenance and will need to lower your calorie intake. If your weight goes down, you were just being impatient.
