I’ve started 16:8 fasting, and love it so far as my biggest issue has been mindless snacking, especially at night. The only thing that’s difficult for me is having no creamer in my coffee in the morning. I don’t mind “dirty” fasting for now as I ease myself into it (my goal at the moment is to just stick to my eating window and reduce snacking) So my question is, which is better – a higher fat creamer such as a tsp of heavy whipping cream? or a tbsp of a sugar free creamer like nutpods?
In other words, it is just calorie count that matters, or does adding a little extra fat help in any respect? Or should I just not even worry about it if I’m under 50 calories?
Thank you!
Calorie consumption aside, creamer will put a stop to the metabolic benefits that come with fasting.
What about moving your window to the morning? It’s great. You get to have coffee how you want it and you don’t have to worry about cooking and eating after work. Your sleep is also greatly improved and your gut microbiomes circadian rhythm becomes in sync with your bodies circadian rhythm as it’s not digesting good when you sleep. So many more benefits to a morning window!!
I see your comment about mindless snacking at night. So that might be tricky. That’s mainly a habitual thing though which can be overcome.
I started using milk instead of cream at first but now I’ve gone to black. It was a bit rough at first but I have since learned to enjoy it.Sometimes on the weekends if there is still coffee left after my fast is over I put some cream in or even Bailey’s. :-)
You’re not fasting. You’re calorie restricting. It’s not the same and they have different results.
In regards to your coffee additive. Just have what you prefer. It’s not going to make a significant difference either way with your method.
*Fasting is black and white. Sorry I didn’t tell you what you wanted to hear. Thanks for the down vote. lol
For me, the creamer (I need it too!) makes it harder for me to get through my fast as it stimulates my hunger so I have coffee after lunch now. I’m a good sleeper so this isn’t a problem. It always feels like a special treat.
