Is eating raw oats, logically speaking, supposed to make you feel fuller? Because if it’s cooked it’ll be more easily digestible as opposed to raw. If you eat, say, a half cup of oats ,raw, and used an equivalent half cup of raw oats, but cooked them instead and ate it. Would the raw one be more filling because it isn’t as easily digestible as the cooked one?
I make my own Muesli with raw steel cut oats, roasted nuts, dried or fresh fruit, and soy milk. I lived in Germany for several years and learned that this is a very normal and very healthy breakfast. Mushy cooked oats are not at all appetizing to me, never were.
I now have it almost every day for breakfast and my digestive system, which had been a lifelong problem, has never been healthier.
Not sure about eating Oat’s raw; but Scottish & Steel Cut Oats have more nutritional value due to the whole oat groats inner kernel being left attached & rolled or cut down into Smaller uniform sized pieces.
Uncooked oats would be less filling and you would get less nutrition from them. Cooking or just soaking oats adds water, or whatever liquid you are using, which adds bulk and breaks down the the hard to digest outer layers making the nutrients more accessible. The availability of nutrients is not applicable to rolled or instant oatmeal because they is steamed during processing but adding water still makes them more filling.
I looked this up recently…
“Raw” oats (technically oat flakes) are actually processed and cooked. Unless you’re eating really raw oats which is undigestable

I make my own muesli all the time and use raw oats as the main ingredient. I add nuts, dried fruit, and coconut. I add yogurt when I eat it. I started eating this way after visiting in Europe and having it in hotels there. I love it this way.
Personally I don’t digest raw oats well :) You would probably gain fiber and digest them at least partially, which might help you feel full, but also pretty bad, and I doubt it’s healthy in the long run. When you cook them in milk\water you’re gaining a lot of liquid weight which can give you a more balanced feeling of fullness, if anything I’d say add more liquid to the same portion. You can also try to soak them without cooking (overnight oats?).
