Anxiety and depression- Fasts over 72 hours

I’ve done a few extended fasts, but never got past 67 hours. I’m especially interested in the effect of water fasting on anxiety and situational depression. Does this work for anyone?

I have GAD (Generalized Anxiety Disorder) and Depression. Fasting makes my Anxiety go up the second and most of the third day and I usually quit. But I just ended my longest fast of 75 hours. At some point the anxiety just disappears and you have a sense of calm. Fasting also make my depression lift after second day, I feel literally the opposite of depression. I would say I suffer from mild chronic depression but pretty severe anxiety. Hope fasting will help you like it does me. I had to fast several times at 24, 48 and 50 before I could get past the heightened anxiety. But I can say it is so worth it!!! Good Luck and Best Wishes.

Water fast is the treatment of choice in Europe for anxiety and depression.

For me I was very insulin resistance when I started my first fast—so much so I would wake in a panic attack from hunger. I was hungry for the majority of the 21 days of my first fast. Fasting helped me break through insulin resistance and each fast got easier.
