I got diagnosed with ulcerative colitis back in 2016 when I was in the hospital for a week with salmonella poisoning. I have not eaten any meat for 19 years and have been fully vegan for 7. After I got diagnosed with UC, they gave me a diet of no raw fruits, no raw vegetables, no nuts, and no seeds. The nutritionist gave me a vegan diet plan for UC that consisted of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches on white bread. I had never felt so bad in my life. During a flare up, I stuck to smoothies and that helped massively, but obviously not sustainable. I tried a raw vegan only diet, which also had be feeling great but I missed all of my favorite foods.
I started IF in May, and have been very serious about it. I do 18:6 at a minimum but usually OMAD. I think IF has finally given my digestive system time that it needed to digest the food properly and take a break. After about a month of IF I stopped having unbearable stomach pains. Hallelujah! I have been able to eat all of my favorite foods without any side effects (still following a fully vegan diet/ lifestyle).
Oh, also, I started dieting in March and have lost 40 lbs so far! The weight loss probably aided in the stomach relief as well.

I am celiac and had been diagnosed with irritable bowel. Plus just day to day bloating was so bad. IF reduced bloating completely and really helped me feel better. But I did have quite a bit of constipation at first. Kefir helped with that.
I have UC, and was thinking about trying IF for weight loss because working out frequently is more difficult for me(I’m also a paraplegic). Your post has convinced me.
The no raw fruit/veg/nuts part has been the worst. I love cashews 😅 which is pretty much the junk food nut.
