Anyone able to maintain their weight easily while still doing 36 hour + fasts?

Hi all,

I’ve been doing OMAD and extended fasts for a multitude of reasons, mostly to do with gut and cognitive health. I was also interested in maintaining my weight/fat loss. I’m happy with my current weight and would like to maintain. I’ve done 48s and 72s and took part in the extended group fast this past week. As a result, my weight dropped from 124 to 119 lbs. Even with refeeding, I’m hovering around 120. I don’t want to lose any more but love the benefits of extended fasting. I do eat a lot and quite nutritionally and calorically dense foods during my refeeds, like massive fatty steaks, lots and lots of butter, eggs, beef tallow, seafood, pork belly, raw cheese, etc.. I eat keto carnivore so adding carbs is not an option. The only carbs I consume are raw sauerkraut and the very occasional piece or two of organic, locally grown, seasonally available fruit, which means I do not eat fruit at all during the colder months as I live in the northern hemisphere. I never thought I’d have this problem but here we are! Any advice? Should I just force myself to eat even more? Lengthen my feeding window? I can definitely maintain easily on keto carnivore but fasting beyond OMAD will almost always result in weight loss. Any and all advice welcome, but especially from keto and carnivorous friends!

The best advice is to seek professional nutritional counseling with someone who supports your dietary choices. Without knowing a lot more about you and you specific choices, it is difficult to say. What’s your BMI? How long did it take you to lose five pounds, how much water did you have during fasts? I just don’t think a forum like this is a good place for you. You need individualized advice from someone who can do a complete profile on you.
