Anyone else just waiting for the holiday season to be over to get back on the bandwagon?

I’ve been in maintenance mode for nearly a year now after hitting my GW in 2021 by doing 20:4/OMAD. But over the last few months (ie. end of summer holidays, Halloween, Thanksgiving) my weight has been slowly going up. Not by a lot, but by enough that my pants are a bit snug, and I can feel that my body is back to being used to eating throughout the day. I want to jump head first back into my IF routine, but with people baking holiday treats, and having bowls of seasonal candy on their desks at work, I’m being defeated by the holiday spirit, and it’s sugary snacks. Just biding my time until New Years is over and Diet Mode can kick back into gear.

Answer

I’m going to make a suggestion that sounds dumb but hear me out. Get back on the bandwagon now. Really. If you do, you will know going into the new year that this isn’t just a New Year’s resolution you’ll just break in a month. Start now to get the most bang for your buck.

Answer

No because I implement a flexible hybrid plan that changes weekly based on my social calendar. Minimally I try to implement daily 16:8. If I can, I implement shorter eating windows, OMAD and finally extended 30-40 hour fasts twice weekly. It’s easy to avoid breakfast so 16:8 is very easy. I do need to “catch up” during holiday weeks when I might be drinking during the week (normally I don’t drink during the week). Drinking during the week usually means I need to work in an extended fast ASAP to deplete my glycogen and get into ketosis.

Answer

A few excess calorie days here and there but haven’t gone back to “eating normally” yet and don’t intend to. Still having at least two 48s per week. Still keeping my feeding days either OMAD or 20:4.

I could make my food choices a little cleaner but all things considered I’m still at a deficit.
