Anyone else staying strong and not break their fast despite all this tempting Thanksgiving food?

As tempting as it is it’s really just one meal (well maybe like 2 lol). By tomorrow the Turkey is going to have been sitting in the fridge all rubbery anyway, right? I can always eat Turkey after my fast. But staying strong, having a clear vision, and accomplishing my goal? That’s irreplaceable.

Answer

Eh, no. In a week or two me eating on thanksgiving won’t change anything. Missing out on the family meal will last longer than that.

I fit fasting around my life, if you can’t do that and feel like you “have to fast” you may have or be developing an eating disorder

Answer

I don’t know your situation obviously. I’m just wary of fasting turning to an eating disorder, and have done some research on the signs. My wife had an eating disorder in highschool and has started IF and some prolonged fasting. And just want to make sure it doesn’t return.

Some of the signs it may be turning into an ED(Pulled from an ED help site)

-Using this approach to severely restrict calories-Seeing this method as an excuse to skip important meals-Feeling guilty or ashamed if you break a fast early-Feeling like a failure if you eat during a fasting period-Having feelings of shame or guilt after eating-Feeling deeply afraid of gaining weigh

Answer

I too fasted through thanksgiving! I’m 6 pounds away from onederland and knew if I ate on thanksgiving it would probably delay my progress by a week or so. I have a similar thinking approach to you that any food i’m craving will be there in the future and that i’m not missing out and it really helps me.

Answer

I fasted right through the family’s hefty Thanksgiving spread, and rejoined them in the living room afterwards! Felt very proud of myself, too. While everyone else was moaning and groaning on the couch, chastising themselves for overeating, I had my electrolyte supplement and chatted.

Yes it was so hard but I made it through. I’m surprised so many people seem so against fasting on Thanksgiving. For me, I definitely agree staying disciplined despite such delicious temptation is more rewarding than breaking my fast. Glad you made it through, we got this!
