Anyone ever try 2 days dry, 2 days water, 2 days dry, 2 days water and so on?

For weightloss goals I wonder if this would be more ideal then longer dry fasts as mentally 3-7 days is tougher then 2 days. So a 10 day fast would have 5 days dry and 5 water in total

Answer

Water fasting might make you feel hungry. Dry fasting is actually easier overall as you actually fully lose your appetite extremely quickly.

If you are able to reach 2 days, you shouldn’t have too many issues reaching 4.

If you do dry fast, it’s a lot better to actually refeed on low carb food. Water Fasting is not ideal as it actually flushes your electrolytes out. Knowing that it is pretty easy to take back 1, sometimes 2 kg when you refeed on food, it would be better to dry fast for at least 4 days. So you still have 2kg of weight loss after your refeed. I do want to note that you will not take back weight if you eat low-carb and drink at least 4L of water throughout the day on your refeed.

If you do want to lose weight quickly through dry fasting, I would say: 4 days dry, 1 day refeed and then repeat.

If you are hardcore: 6 days dry, 1 day refeed, repeat.

I know that most people do not have the willpower to stick to such routines anyway and there is no shame in that. It is easy when you’re used to it but extremely tough if you just start.

Dry fasting asks self discipline. If you are seriously overweight, it’s likely that you are because you don’t have much self discipline to begin with.

I think that if you do want to lose weight, with a smaller chance to fall off the wagon, maybe you should just stick to eating food. The carnivore diet has similar numbers weight-loss wise but you still get to eat and drink.

Going from a water fast to a dry fast has been proven to be dangerous. So the idea that you would go 2 days dry, 2 days water, 2 days dry again already sounds bad enough. If you can’t dry fast for 4 days, which is a lot easier than actually water fasting, it’s unlikely you will sustain your routine long enough to actually see a proper weight-loss.

Answer

What about starting with 2-3 days DF and then transition to a water fast for as long as you want, like 10-14 days? I don’t see why you’d need alternating DF with WF.

After you ease into your fast with the dry days, you are unlikely to feel any hunger and you should continue feeling great for the rest of it. It will be easier on your body overall, and the results will be about the same.

Just a thought.
