My cycle came back after 8 years without one when I went low carb. But it comes irregularly every 35-50 days. I usually have to eat a ton of fat to make it come. To the point where it makes me sick. This probably comes from decades of eating zero fat. I have pcos. …what happens is 2 weeks after my period I feel my. Best. I can eat normally although I have a bigger appetite than most. But weeks 3-6 or however long it takes to bleed I am ravenous and have a terrible time fasting. My digestion also gets terrible. I have gut issues and Sibo and they def contribute to my inability To have proper hormones. I’m making myself sick with all the eating and endless hunger but I’m afraid to push through and fast and lose my cycle. Because I get stuck in pms mode for weeks or months until a bleed comes. It’s terrible until I get relief from starting. Anyone here able to push through and fast during this time? I’m getting too sick from eating too much did to excessive hunger and I want to just force myself to fast a little and get it under control again as I am rapidly gaining weight. I know they say don’t fast before your period but in my case if this thing won’t come right now I’m just Making myself fatter and sicker and getting more bloated swollen tired and irritable. Need to be fasting as much as possible to help the gut issues…but don’t wanna be in endless pms. It’s been 41 days since my last period
The thing is, hormones don’t cause weight gain. They can just cause water retention and if you have something like Cushing’s disease, increased appetite. They don’t make calories out of thin air by themselves. You need to get used to what true hunger feels like because you just want to eat - your body is not actually hungry. There’s no reason to not fast before your period, not sure what source you got on that one, but it isn’t true. It’s okay to be hungry. Find hobbies and distractions and exercise the will power muscles. You have plenty of body fat to fuel your body. The other issue, which you didn’t bring up, is that you’re probably not eating great foods either, which is why your digestion is suffering.

Have you tried different treatment options for PCOS? I have PCOS but have fairly regular periods, but I’ve heard that Ovasitol helps with regulating cycles.
Im on a high dose of Metformin for PCOS and it was a huge help in regulating my insulin issues.
