I gave birth 4 months ago and put on over 50lbs while pregnant - going from 112lbs to 165lbs. I’ve been doing alternate day fasting for the past 3 months, where I fast every other day, sometimes every 2 days. It looks something like a 42 hour fast and a 6 hour eating window. I drink black decaf coffee and water on my fast days and tend to overeat on my food days. I’m also calorie tracking and my calorie deficit for the week is usually around 2500 - 3000. For the past two weeks now, it feels like I’ve hit a wall, being stuck at 128lbs. Even though I had a 4500 calorie deficit last week, I put on half a pound. I’m wondering if anyone has a similar experience with plateauing like this and if it went away on its own or if there’s anything you did differently to continue losing weight. I’m sure I’m in a calorie deficit over the week, so I’m not sure why I’m not losing anymore. I had hypothyroidism while I was pregnant, but my thyroid hormone levels went back to normal after I gave birth, so I don’t think it’s that.
Weight loss slows down as you get closer to normal weight. Since it’s only been two weeks, I wouldn’t worry yet. If this persists, you should probably look at what you’re eating and consider cutting carbs because a 42 hour fast might not be long enough if you are eating a ton of carbs. Or you could do longer fasts.
I’ve been doing ADF for a month now. I was losing about 0.5 pounds on every noon-eating day.
This last week saw weird stuff (2 OMAD) due to a weird messed up schedule. I think I only lost 0.5 in the whole week, as opposed to 1.5-2 pounds.
I’m back in track and tightened my calories/macros in hopes I get back on track.
