Anyone with Hypothyroidism doing extended fasts?

I’ve done a 6 day fast a couple times and I felt fine but has anyone had trouble? Has the weight loss and energy gain been noticeable for you?

Answer

Currently pregnant, so it’s been 6+ months since I last fasted, but YES! 5-6-7 days. The only issues were using electrolytes correctly and the clearing of my bowels. Towards the middle/end of fasts, that was shocking. I was tired on a few fasts, but that was from exercise. You’re not going to generate muscle tissue during that time, anyway. Exercise is optional.

I’m on Levothyroxine for hypo/Hashimotos. Water weight was the first to go, and sometimes it took a few days after a fast to see any fat loss. I found that disappointing the first couple times. I don’t know if it relates to hypothyroidism, or if that is the standard. My skin improved and I felt less run down. Good luck! 🙂

I have hypo and I’ve done a couple of 4-day fasts. All fine and good. A bit dizzy because I’ve not gotten the electrolytes right yet. No energy gain, I’ve yet to experience that. Weight loss: yes, easily.
