I’m talking specifically about del monte fruit cups, but in general are fruit cups as healthy as fresh fruit if they don’t have added sugar?
I’d say the fruit pieces are just as good as fresh fruit, but the juice they’re held in is just sugar. You know how you’re supposed to eat the orange and not drink the orange juice, because the juice is just sugar without the fiber and other good stuff in the flesh of the fruit. I don’t know what sort of process the fruit goes through but if it’s just cut and suspended in fruit juice then I’m sure it’s fine.
Why not buy fresh fruit and put it in little plastic containers in the refrigerator and take to go. Real fruit will never be packaged and stored in shelf’s. Only thing I can think of is dried fruit.
Real fruit only lasts a few weeks being refrigerated before it goes bad.
