Are sautéing foods bad for heart?

I know that fried foods are bad for heart.

What about sautéing foods (using a little amount of oil in a shallow pan)? Are they also bad for heart and general health?

Answer

Depends on what oil you’re using but if you factor that out, nope. Ideally, you’ll want to use oils such as avocado oil, avoid vegetable oil which are high in omega 6 fats. There is another concern - trace amounts of carcinogens which are linked to oxidative stress, linked to cancer, if it’s sautéed for too long. Those are relatively small in sautéing so that’s not something to worry about. Just don’t eat barbecue and fried food everyday and you’ll be fine 👍
