Are there any nutritional differences between honey & sugar?

I always hear that honey is used to treat wounds whenever I research this. I don’t have a wound and can’t see how this has anything to do with nutrition. Not to mention you aren’t consuming the honey to heal the wound

Answer

Honey is sugar so calorie for calorie it is the same. Like the previous comment, it does have some benefits due to micronutrient profiles etc, however in the amount honey is consumed it is minuscule to have much health benefit. I personally like to use honey or maple syrup instead of white sugar just because they I feel that I am able to control the amount used better and also it can help steer away white sugar craving/addiction

Answer

As it has been stated before, they are the same in their macro nutrient content and they differ in some micro nutrients. I would say the difference is honey can be used for therapeutic purposes, rather than just for eating.

Honey can act as a pain relief at the level of the throat in infections, flu, common cold, etc. In my country, people sometimes add honey to their hot beverages with this purpose.

Answer

First off, honey IS sugar, so from that standpoint, no, no difference.

Honey is going to have some mineral content that refined sugar isn’t going to have, but other than that they’re essentially the same thing.
