At what point is it NOT water weight?

Lost 6 lbs in my first week of fasting but have maintained the second week (minus one more lb so far). Are the 6 lbs considered lost at this point and not water weight?

Just take the win and keep moving forward. Somehow, it seems to bring great joy to a lot of people on this sub to dismiss things as “water weight” . You’re moving in the right direction , you’re following a proven process and you weigh less than you did when you started . Keep it up ! Good luck and congratulations

I feel like it’s not just water weight, but the amount of food that is constantly in your system when you eat all day. I just started again and lost 6 pounds in 3 days, but I drink like almost a gallon of water a day.

You’ll know at the point you agent losing like 3+kg in a week that the water weight is gone.Iv lost like 7-8kg in my first week back on IMF before. Currently iv been gaining weight again due to getting sick several times with different things but im starting to get better. Will probably be able to lose it really fast once I can do a lot of exersize and eat a healthy diet again (at the moment im only really managing to eat carbs because anything else is making me feel sick or giving me stomach cramps)

It’s really hard to know - people can dehydrate themselves purposefully and lose 10, 20lbs of body weight.

But generally, I would say unless doing something extreme like that - and assuming you’re not attempting to lose water weight I think once you’ve lost a BMI point you’re into real loss and not water weight.
