Hey y’all. So I’ve started going back into the office but don’t love going out for lunches. My friend mentioned she’s a big fan of the ready-made salads at the deli counter in her grocery store. What do you guys think? Any favorite styles or added ingredients? I’m trying to eat healthy this year, but also know that those have preservatives and other things that take away from the nutrition, so recommendations on certain brands or styles would be massively appreciated 😊
If you’re frugal I’d meal prep. Honestly store bought salads sooo overpriced. But it depends on your budget. If you go on Pinterest they’ll be hundreds of recommendations though. But eating healthy under so much temptation will be difficult but you can do it and remember why you’re doing it.
I think the best why to keep healthy is by making your own foods at home, meal prepping and all that good stuff. I have a program I follow by bellabeat and get my recipes mostly from there. But I’m sure can find tons of easy recipes to follow on the internet.
If you have a sweetgreen near you, I highly recommend getting a salad from there. For general ingredients, in addition to salad greens, I recommend beans, tofu, roasted veggies (I love sweet potatoes) a whole grain like quinoa or brown rice, nuts/seeds
Sweetgreen is a great option! I would also check out a place called core life eatery https://www.corelifeeatery.com/ . They have several healthy options and can accommodate any dietary restrictions if you are looking for that as well.
Carrots, celery, or peppers with humus.
Pretzels with Peanut Butter, or if you have a peanut allergy, then use humus.
I find eating these with a few other things makes my body appreciate the healthy meal. Sorta like the good body feeling when you drink only water all day and your body is happy.
